So today was my first day playing with the Zenpad 8 (Z580CA) and I still have lots to do as far as setup and making it look just like my old ME572, screen-wise, but so far, I am rather satisfied.
It is super fast, it has a great display, it takes decent pictures and overall it functions fine.
Bonus here, it has WiFi ac (5gHz) and the connect from my new TP-Link router is damned fast (about 433mbps).
Another bonus is the huge amount of storage on the tablet itself, which is 64gb. I almost felt silly for installing the new Samsung Evo 64gb microSD card, but I will get over that.
The USB-C connector is going to make me have to pay attention a bit to which USB cable charges which device, but that is not a big deal.
The setup did take just short of forever because Asus has a lot of things to sign up for and bloatware that could easily not be installed, but other than those minor issues, and the glaring fact that I no longer have a tablet that slips into my back pocket, I am completely happy with this tablet!
I will give it an initial review of 9.9 out of 10 for now. The official review will occur after a few weeks of use.
Here is a comparison shot of the new versus old tablet.
One more item to cover, this tablet can connect to my Bluetooth K480 keyboard and there is no dropoff in the WiFi speed. The Me572 did have an issue with this but it was never a real problem, but this tablet removes that minor annoyance.
