Panasonic Let’s Note Laptops Are Very Old School, Keep Japanese Business Approach

By Radu Iorga

Panasonic Let’s Note is a series of laptops that have a pure business Japanese approach, while also being tough, compact and well performing. They’ve just been updated with 2018 versions, that focus on an Intel quad core 8th generation CPU. We detailed them below.

These are 12.1 inch series laptops, that rely on Core i5 or Core i7 chipsets and the newcomer is called Panasonic Let’s Note CF-SV7. It’s actually a series of ultra compact PCs, that come with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, optical drives and an optional LTE modem. All of those weigh in at just 999 grams, up to 1.124 kilograms on higher specced units.

The design is a bit traditional if I’m being kind, one would say old school and another would say antiquated. They make it feel like it’s 2001 or something and we’re actually not very much off, since the product line dates from back in 1996, not having changed much design wise. This product range has been popular in Japan, for portable computing and working during commutes.

The laptops are made of plastic, but they’re rugged. Panasonic put on the new models a battery that promises up to 21 hours of life. There’s also a 12.1 inch 1920 x 1200 pixel matte display, HDMI, VGA, Ethernet, SD card slot, audio jack and 3 USB-A ports. A Windows Hello capable webcam is here and pricing starts at around $3000. You can configure the laptops with 1 TB of HDD and 128 GB of SSD, plus even include a Blu-ray reader.

A basic version with Core i5 and 8 GB of RAM costs $2320 online, while a premium model goes for $3880.
