After offering a new version of the Huawei MateBook X, the Chinese company now also offers another appealing laptop, the 14 inch Huawei MateBook D. The device is priced at $999 and up and it comes with 8th gen Intel Core CPU.
Yes, I know the product has been available for months now, but initially, it came with an AMD Ryzen 5 2500U processor and Radeon Vega 9 graphics. It also cost just $630, which is not half bad. Now we get a pricier model, one that comes with the NVIDIA GeForce MX150 (2 GB) graphics card in lieu of the AMD one. If you’re bummed by the $999 price tag, you should know that many shops are offering discounts.
Aside from the CPU and GPU change, the device keeps the 14 inch 1920 x 1080 pixel display with touch ability. It also keeps the 8 GB of RAM (DDR4), WiFi 802.11 ac and Bluetooth 4.1. Inside we find a 57.4 Wh battery and the whole thing measures 0.6 inches in thickness and weighs 3.5 pounds. Connectivity includes an USB Type-C port, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 Type-A ports too, plus a HDMI and 3.5 mm audio jack.
Then there’s the 1 MP webcam, quad speakers and Dolby Atmos acoustics. What’s also lacking here, aside from AMD stuff is a fingerprint scanner for some reason. A good piece of news though is that the top of the line model has double the storage of the entry level AMD unit. You can get the Core i7 model for $1099 on the Microsoft Store and the Core i5 one for $949 on Amazon.
