CES 2019 is coming in about 3 weeks or so and it should usher in some new products, including foldables. In the meantime some precocious companies like LG have already started announcing devices. For example, we have two new members of the LG Gram family: LG Gram 2 in 1 and LG Gram 17.
They have just been briefly detailed, but not fully specced yet. LG Gram 2 in 1 is a 2.5 pound convertible tablet/laptop hybrid, with a 14 inch screen, while the LG Gram 17 is an ultra light notebook that puts the ASUS ultrabooks to shame, albeit at a much higher diagonal size: 17 inches. It weighs a bit under 3 pounds.
We already covered these devices partially via a few leaks, but now we’re prepping for the real debut, as the press release has come in. Both newcomers feature slim bezel designs, 72 Wh batteries and fingerprint readers. They also have tough bodies, with MIL-STD 810G certification and backlit keyboards.
Both also feature Intel Core 8th gen processors 8 GB to 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB to 512 GB of SSD storage. LG Gram 2 in 1 relies on a Full HD IPS touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass protection and does Wacom input via a bundled pen. Connectivity includes a USB Type-C 3.1 port, two USB 3.1 ports, a microSD card slot and a HDMI port.
LG Gram 17 comes in dark silver or white and measures 0.7 inches in thickness. It has a Thunderbolt 3/USB Type-C port, 3 USB 3.1 ports, a HDMI and microSD. There’s also a 2560 x 1600 pixel IPS display with a 965 sRGB color gamut. In spite of being so light, this device is actually big enough to also offer you a numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.
