Vaio Z Canvas Dubbed “More Powerful Than Surface Pro 4” In Detailed Review

By James A.

Vaio-Z-Canvas

It’s not every day that you pay the price of a car for a tablet, but that happens when you’re forking over money to get the Vaio Z Canvas. The product goes for $2,150 and recently CNET had quite a bit to say about it.

They reviewed the slate and found the business device good enough to outpower the Surface Pro 4. Still, it got an overall grade of 7.5 out of 10, with the good being that it offers the performance of a 15 inch MacBook Pro in the body of a 12 inch Windows 10 tablet. On the bad side, the stylus was a bit lacking and it wasn’t as responsive as the ones on competing slates.

Plus, this is quite a pricey machine for a PC replacement. It’s sold more to “creative professionals” rather than the average user. After all, it comes with the specs of a high end PC, like a 47 watt Intel Core i7 processor, the most powerful Iris Pro graphics available, up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of SSD. The review of the device even included connecting a pair of Full HD monitors and everything went swell.

Be sure to check out the full review here.

HP Spectre x2 Debuts Officially, Feeling Much Like a Surface Pro Clone With Keyboard Bundled

By Radu Iorga

hp-spectre-x2

Not to stay in Microsoft’s shadow too much, HP unveiled a nifty productivity device today, the Spectre x2. This is a 2 in 1 tablet, that can easily be considered a Surface Pro clone and rival, but it also brings a bundled keyboard and all of that is priced at $800.

This 12 inch hybrid is meant for productivity and entertainment and it brings a two piece design. Its screen offers a Full HD resolution and we also get a detachable keyboard and a choice of 4 or 8 GB of RAM, plus a variety of SSDs (128 GB, 256 GB, 512 GB) and the sixth gen Intel Core M processors. The x2 relies on a single hinged bar that will pop out of the device, as a way of attaching the tablet to the dock.

HP promises 10 hours of functioning here on a single charge and this model also comes with quad Bang & Olufsen speakers. It’s slim at 8 mm in waistline and it’s build from a single piece of aluminum. The weighs is 840 grams and the keyboard measures just 5 mm in thickness. 1.5 mm of travel is guaranteed for the keys and there’s no stylus here, in case you’re wondering.

LTE is present among the specs and an Intel RealSense 3D camera at the back. The product hits stores on November 8th.

Dell XPS 12 2 in 1 Tablet Leaked, Comes With Windows 10 and 4K Infinity Edge Display

By James A.

dell-xps-12-rcm992x0

The Dell XPS 12 2 in 1 tablet is expected to come in October, with a new wave of Windows 10 tablets, but today we’re witnessing its leak, complete with a partial specs list. Previously, we knew the Dell XPS 12 as a device with rotatable display, but now it brings a keyboard dock and detachable slate part.

This model offers a 12 inch diagonal and an impressive 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution, with a technology called “infinity edge display”. Basically, we’re getting very narrow bezels and a strong frame here. Dell brings an Active Stylus in the mix as well and the screen mentioned before provides around 400 nits of brightness. At the back there’s an 8 megapixel camera, plus upfront a 5 MP shooter.

USB Type C ports are available, plus a Thunderbolt and the Dell XPS 12 will have a keyboard dock, attached magnetically to the slate. Several accessories will be available for this model, like the thin Dell Premier Folio Cover with magnetic connection, USB Type C adapters, Dell Docks and more. We don’t have any price for this 2 in 1 newcomer.

IFA 2015: Toshiba Shows Off 12 Inch Ultraslim Windows Tablet Concept, a Very Solid Pro Rival

By James A.

toshiba-prototype_03

Toshiba was also present in Berlin with some goodies, including the tablet concept below, a 12 inch Windows model with a Full HD resolution. This very elegant device seems to be an attempt to pre-empt the arrival of the iPad Pro, as best Microsoft and Toshiba can.

With an Intel Atom CPU inside, this model comes with support for a digital pen and a detachable keyboard dock. Toshiba didn’t provide an exact set of specs, but this model sure looks slim. The docking mechanism doesn’t seem to be adjustable, so you’ll have to do with that single angle of propping up the device. Interestingly, this model doesn’t have a stylus slot, but instead it has a mechanism for docking the pen to the side of the tablet.

Toshiba has used magnets here to attach the keyboard to the tablet, when you’re carrying it in your bag. The keyboard looks and feels like a Logitech iPad keyboard, which is a compliment. With Windows 10 on board, this feels like one last attempt to counter the iPad Pro, that could be coming next week. I’m expecting 8 GB of RAM, plenty of SSD storage, an Intel x7 CPU and more goodies, LTE even.

By Radu Iorga

samsung-ativ-smart-pc

Samsung is rumored to be working on a 12 inch Windows 10 tablet and that instantly made of think of the Ativ device series. It’s been a while since a device was last released within this product range, so it could be back now.

We’ve previously heard that Sammy was preparing a big screen tablet, but one with Android, not Windows 10. It’s logical that Samsung would approach the freshly launched OS, that seems very promising and has already been installed millions of times. The leakster who detailed the new slate is also the source behind the GeekBench 3 leaked results of some Samsung mobile chipsets.

The new 12 inch Windows 10 tablet from Samsung has a Super AMOLED panel and it’s said to offer a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, or a 3840 x 2400 res. Rumors also talk about a 14 nm Intel Core M processor inside, 4 GB of RAM and an S Pen in the mix. The tablet is expected to be 6.2 mm in thickness and weigh 600 grams. That’s quite compact for such a big Windows device…
