Dragon Touch Report, The Server is running great!

IMG_20160319_132307This post was originally posted on the Dragon Touch Tablet Server.

So this being a Saturday I am watching some sports, and having a great lunch. Today the DTX10 is at home being a web server. Why is that you might ask? Well today we are trying out the Asus Z580CA with the Logitech K480 keyboard.

That is the great thing about using a tablet with a Bluetooth keyboard versus buying one of those expensive tablet/keyboard combos that limit the keyboard to only one device. I can setup the K480 to connect to 3 different devices and change up my “LogiTab” easily from the Dragon Touch to this Asus in seconds.

Today’s report is being written on the Asus Zenpad S 8.0 (Z580CA) and it works flawlessly with this BT keyboard. Sure it is a bit smaller than the Dragon touch but more than adequate for the task at hand. The only downside to this setup is that I still need to purchase an adapter to go from USB C to regular USB so I can plug in my wireless mouse. But the keyboard has more than enough specialty keys to allow me to navigate without ever have to touch the screen.

So back to the Dragon Touch, as usual there is nothing much new to report, it is still working great and still has plenty of room left for any apps I ever need to install and the battery life is as always great!

ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 Z580CA Unboxing: One of the Most Elegant Slates of the Year Taken Out of the Box (Video)

ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 is a tablet that was announced in June at Computex 2015 and it has arrived on our test table now. The device we’re testing is the version Z580CA, priced at $199 on Amazon in the most basic version or $299 for the one with more storage.

The box is rather slim and elegant and inside it we find the USB cable, charger and manual. The ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 Z580CA measures 6.6 mm in thickness, weighs 298 grams and packs an 8 inch display with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution. The same screen has a Gorilla Glass 3 protection, full lamination and anti fingerprint coating. The slate packs an Intel Atom Z3580 quad core processor, clocked at 2.3 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and 16, 32 or 64 GB of storage.

This model also brings a GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, plus a back 8 megapixel camera and front 5 MP shooter. One of the features standing out here are the two front speakers with DTS HD technology and Sonicmaster too. There’s an USB Type C port at the bottom, a microSD card slot and the device comes in black or white. The battery here is a 15.2 Wh unit, according to the packaging.

ASUS claims that this ZenPad is inspired by the world of fashion and the metal plate at the back ends with a leather-like texture. The design also involves a diamond cut technology and a few other top notch technologies, like TruVivid and Tru2Life. We’ll be back with a full review, once we’re done with the battery life test and benchmarks.

ASUS ZenPad S 8.0 Tablet Has Finally Arrived, Boosted by High End Specs

By James A.

While we’re still waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 slates to come to all major markets, those in need of a strong Android tablet from 2015 will be happy to know there’s a new alternative in town. It’s one of the many ZenPads announced earlier this summer, probably the best specced one: ASUS ZenPad S 8.0.

This slate is a 7.9 incher, codenamed Z580CA and it comes with a 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, as well as a quad core Intel Atom Z3580 64 bit processor. The slate did appear on Best Buy a month ago, but in a lower end version, the Z580C. Now we get all the goods, like 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage, a microSD card slot, plus an 8 megapixel back camera and a front 5 MP selfie shooter.

ASUS also promotes the device’s premium look and feel, that’s supposedly inspired by the world of fashion. We get a diamond hairline pattern at the back and with it there’s also a metallic finish. All of that is crammed within a 6.6 mm thick chassis and it all weighs 298 grams. And then there are the appealing accessories, like the ASUS Z Stylus, or various covers.

The price is $299 and the product can be found on Amazon, Newegg and the ASUS Online Store. Keep in mind this model also has an USB Type C port.
