By Radu Iorga

Chuwi is among the tablet maker names present at CES 2018 and there they brought their latest tablets and revealed plans for 2018. They also offered updates for the CoreBook campaign on Indiegogo and more details mentioned below.

Chuwi CoreBook

Chuwi has reached the $200k goal for the CoreBook device, so the Core M3 slate will be upgraded from 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage to SSD storage for every backer. 5 days are left till the end of the campaign, which leaves you just a few days to get the early bird pricing. This is a 2 in 1 Windows 10 tablet, that can also be used as a laptop. It’s got 128 GB of SSD storage, 8 GB of RAM and a stylish design.

A fingerprint scanner is also included and everything starts at $459, with keyboard and pen included. There’s a 13.3 inch Full HD screen on board and a quick charger in the mix.

Chuwi Hi9

Chuwi also showcased the Hi9 tablet, with a MediaTek 8173 CPU, plus the GX6250 GPU and Android 7.0 Nougat. It’s a gaming tablet with an 8.4 inch screen, that offers a 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, on a 16:9 IPS display. 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and microSD card slot are here, plus a 5000 mAh battery. We first wrote about it here.

Chuwi Hi9 Air

Another future device coming from Chuwi is the Hi9 Air, which is supposed to be a very slim tablet. It’ll have a 10.8 inch IPS screen, the same MediaTek CPU mentioned above and the same RAM and storage. However, it runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and the resolution goes to Full HD. There’s a fingerprint scanner here too and we’ll get a main 8 MP camera, plus a front 5 MP shooter.

Chuwi GBox Pro

A surprise is the mini PC GBox Pro, shown by Chuwi at CES and this device comes with the new 8th gen Intel Core i5 CPU, and a HBM2 GPU. It’s offered with a remote control in the package and other extras.

Chuwi SurBook Pro

Finally, a Chuwi SurBook Pro laptop has been detailed too, with a 12 inch 3:2 screen and a resolution of 2160 x 1440 pixels. A Very Interesting 2 in 1: The Chuwi CoreBook 13.3 Inch Tablet/Notebook

By Tim

So Chuwi is getting the CoreBook device ready although it is still in prototype stage. They have made a few good choices so far such as upgrading to 8 GB ram and a 128 GB SSD.

Those updates are all well and good, but they need to learn to use the correct words when describing their future product. This device with have a Core-M 7Y30 processor, which is the best of the core M line as far as speed goes, but in their video they refer to it as the fastest Intel processor. Nope, not even close, good, but not a Core i5 or Core i7, not even close.

Yes, if you are part of the Indiegogo campaign you will end up with the 8 GB ram/128 GB SSD and the pen and keyboard. Well yippie, these should be included with every purchase at one cost! If you want to compete with Microsoft Surface devices and Apple, you damn well better offer all the pieces parts in one single package.

Lastly, a little door on the back of the tablet section in order to upgrade that SSD! They figured this out on the LapBook Air and the LapBook 12.3, so why the sudden loss of common sense?

The video is interesting and featured below and it is a few months old, but Chuwi needs to better understand the market and step up their game.

This could be a great 2 in 1 device, but if Chuwi half-asses it, they won’t sell too many!

Below is the video.

That is all for this evening,

Tim

Chuwi CoreBook Goes Live on Indiegogo, as A Crowdfunded 2 in 1 Device

By Radu Iorga

Chuwi is back to crowdfunding with the Chuwi CoreBook 2 in 1 device. Promoted as a sort of iPad Pro rival, in concept and looks, the machine is powered by an Intel Core m3 CPU. This is not Chuwi’s first crowdfunding, as they also had a lot of backing with the SurBook, raising over $1 million.

Back to the Indiegogo newcomer, the CoreBook is a potent 2 in 1 machine with Intel HD Graphics 615 and the promise of 4K video and 3D games. Inside we find 6 GB of DDR3 RAM, 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage and 13.3 inch Full HD touchscreen is also in the mix. This display uses an OGS fully laminated panel, that offers sharper contrast, as well as more natural colors.

There’s a 2.5D glass panel upfront to make things even more beautiful. As far as ergonomics go, this is a very comfy machine, that sits quite well in the hand. Upfront we find a fingerprint scanner, ready to unlock the device with a single touch. CoreBook also has a full USB Type-C 3.0 port, used for charging and more. Inside the device we find a 37 Wh high density battery, that is supposed to offer up to 8 hours of average use.

A quick charger of 12V and 3A will take it up to 100% in about 3 hours. This 2 in 1 uses a hinged wide angle keyboard, making it a sort of laptop. It also lets one perform a free adjustment of the device, between zero and 165 degrees. We’ve got 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity for the display, working in tandem with an active stylus. There’s palm blocking technology and writing at less than 30 degree angles.

The OS is Windows 10 and the pricing of the CoreBook is $459 in the early bird system, with 23% discount. The whole pack, with keyboard goes to $499 after 26% off. Backers are expected here for the promotions. A super early bird price will be emailed to the subscribers to the website, with only 50 CoreBook units ready and 250 units of the whole set.

Chuwi CoreBook is a Surface Pro Rival, With Pretty Decent Specs and Crowdfunding Behind It

By Radu Iorga

It appears that Chuwi is having quite a bit of hype with its crowdfunding campaign for the Chuwi CoreBook device. Promoted as a Surface Pro rival, the machine brings a Kaby Lake processor and 6 GB of RAM. It also promises an “all day battery life”.

We first wrote about the CoreBook here, as a 13.3 inch Full HD convertible tablet. What amazed us back then was the fact that it had a 2.5D glass panel upfront, something we don’t see on tablets every day. Chuwi is no stranger to crowdfunding success, making the SurBook campaign a hit via the same means, with over 1 million dollars raised. Chuwi Corebook has specs that make it seem like a worthy Surface Pro rival.

The crowdfunding starts in mid November and the machine comes with a fingerprint scanner dubbed “Touch ID”, plus 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It makes use of an Intel Core m3-7Y30 processor and its versatile format lets you turn the device into a tablet or laptop, using a keyboard accessory that goes all the way up to a view angle of 165 degrees. We’ve also got a pen accessory in the mix, which can provide 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and mimic the feel of an actual pen.

Pricing has yet to be mentioned, but I expect something around $300, to $400 tops. Windows 10 is the OS of choice here and I expect some serious early bird discounts and coupons for it.

Chuwi CoreBook is a 13.3 inch Full HD 2.5D Glass Convertible Tablet, Crowdfunded Right Now

By Radu Iorga

Chuwi is really getting into the whole crowdfunding thing, so after a few successful products, now they’re debuting one more via the same method. This time it’s the Chuwi CoreBook, probably the first tablet I heard of that has a 2.5D glass panel. More details are shown below.

Chuwi already had great success with the crowdfunding of the SurBook devices and now Chuwi CoreBook is up for funding on Indiegogo. The new campaign starts around mid-November and will see the newcomer getting funds and early offers. We’re dealing with a 13.3 inch Full HD slate, with a 2.5D glass panel. It relies on an Intel Core 7th generation processor, the Core M3 7Y30, plus 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of eMMC 5.1 storage.

The screen mentioned before promises improved outdoor viewing experience and a vibrant and detailed image, on account of the full lamination technology. This is both a tablet and a notebook, that comes with a stepless adjustable keyboard and can go all the way up to 165 degrees. It’s got support for a “Touch ID” technology at the bottom and top, but that has yet to be detailed. It’s basically a fingerprint scanner from what I understood.

By the way this device has Windows 10 OS and quick charge support. 300 units will benefit from the super early bird price, so keep your eyes peeled. In the meantime Chuwi is also starting a giveaway between October 27th and November 10th, with 3 lucky winners to be chosen. Details here.
