Huawei MediaPad M5 10 Pro Leaks in Clearest Renders Yet

By Radu Iorga

Huawei’s new MediaPad M5 tablets have been leaking for weeks now, sometimes in sketches, sometimes in full specs lists. This time we get to see the Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro, shown in the clearest render yet. And we actually have more of them below.

The Pro version is a new figure on the scene, since we previously just knew about the 8 inch and 10 inch MediaPad M5, no Pro. The appeal of the Huawei MediaPad M5 Pro? It has LTE, a stylus, keyboard and the max level of RAM and storage available in the range. I’ll remind you that the regular MediaPad M5 comes in an 8 inch and 10 inch flavour.

These images have leaked via German site WinFuture.de and we also get to see the device hooked up to a keyboard. There’s a folio tablet in the mix and specs are said to include a 2560 x 1600 pixel display, 32 GB or 64 GB of storage, a metal body and a fingerprint sensor on the side. The Keyboard Folio Cover has a big camera cut out, so we may get an especially good camera here.

The Pro 10 incher has an M-Pen stylus, LTE support and the price of 520 euros ($638) is thrown around. A Kirin 960, high end acoustics (maybe even 4 speakers), 4 GB of RAM and probably a 13 MP camera should be in the mix. I see that the device’s edges are quite rounded and it’s one of the few times a 10 incher actually tries to be sexy.

Huawei MediaPad M5 and MediaPad M5 Pro Get Priced Ahead of MWC 2018 Unveiling

By James A.

The Huawei MediaPad M5 has leaked before, in certifications and specs, also some sketches, but today it’s time to learn its price. We also find out new details about the device’s versions and it seems we are about to get a MediaPad M5 and M5 Pro at MWC 2018.

Already certified by Bluetooth SIG and the FCC, the device was expected to debut in Barcelona at the end of the month in two versions: an 8.4 incher and a 10.1 incher (although it may also be 10.5 inches). Now tipster Roland Quandt claims that the MediaPad M5 8 inch model (codenamed Schubert) will feature 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and it’ll be priced at 328 euros ($405) in the WiFi version, while the LTE one will go for 380 euros ($469).

The larger model, the 10 inch one is codenamed Cameron and it will feature 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage, plus it’ll be priced at 379 euros ($468) in the WiFi version and 420 euros ($518) in the LTE one. There’s even an extra MediaPad M5 Pro, with the codename “Cameron Pro”, which will come with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. This one stands out through the support for the M-Pen stylus.

MediaPad M5 Pro only comes with LTE and will sell for around 520 euros ($642). All the new models are said to feature a Kirin 960 CPU, 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and 4980 mAh battery, plus Android 8.0 Oreo.

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: The Huawei P Smart Review

By Tim

Today I watched another great video from Linus over at TechLineHD on the Huawei P smartphone. This one appears to be a solid performer and offers very decent performance at a very low price.

Personally I am still considering the LeEco Pro 3 phone that I wrote about a few weeks back.

The phone has a great display, fast performance and does most things very well. It is not a phone for gamers, but one must ask, why in the hell are you playing 3D games on a phone anyway? The device sports some of the following specs:

  • 5.65-inch with Fullview Full HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen
  • HiSilicon Kirin 659, Octa-core, Main Camera’s: DUAL 13MP+2MP, f/2.0, autofocus, LED flash; Front Camera: 8 MP
  • 32GB ROM, 3GB RAM. Finger Print Sensor.
  • 3000mAh Super Battery.
  • MicroSD slot up to 256GB

This is a GSM phone and can be used with AT&T and T-Mobile and any other carriers using those carriers and using GSM.

So let us get right to the video, because that is why you are here…and make sure to subscibe to his channel if this stuff interests you!

That is all I have for now,

Tim

Huawei Confirms Presence at MWC 2018, With MediaPad M5 Tablet Ready for Launch

By Radu Iorga

Huawei has confirmed its presence at MWC 2018, where they won’t be bringing any phones, but they will be bringing a new Huawei Watch and a MediaPad tablet. Said slate is the often leaked MediaPad M5. Let’s see what the news is.

First of all, the Huawei MediaPad M5 already got certified by the FCC and it was dead sure for a MWC 2018 unveiling. It has been leaked from all angles and it’s expected to come in an 8.4 inch and 10.1 inch version. Huawei’s event will also bring us the Huawei Pay service in European markets. We may also see some launches of midrange phones, maybe from the Honor series.

Both versions of the MediaPad M5 will bring Android 8.0 Oreo with EMUI 8 on top, an USB Type-C port and at least one of them has a 4980 mAh battery. I expected stereo or quad speakers on board, a 13 MP camera, 4 or 6 GB of RAM and I’ve heard there’s a Kirin 960 CPU on board. The screen resolution is 2560 x 1600 pixels and I’m pretty sure the body is made of metal.

The Home button with fingerprint scanner is not exactly a modern idea, but I’ll take it.

This Morning’s Video Worth Sharing: The Huawei Mate 10 Pro Smartphone/The Huawei Mate 10

By Tim

Today we are looking at the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, 6 inch “flagship” smartphone. This video comes to us from Andrew over at AMDTech and as usual covers all the bases and is honest and nit-picky which is good. I have also added in a bonus video from Linus over at TechLineHD on the Huawei Mate 10 that has some advantages over the Pro version.

In the case of this particular device Andrew was somewhat at a loss to find any major flaws since this is a great device. However you must purchase this device as an unlocked non-contract device since AT&T and T-Mobile, the 2 GSM carriers out there do not carry it on contract due to pressure from the feds here in the USA. Apparently the fact that Huawei is actually owned by the Chinese government and they did get caught a few years back putting in some back-doors on their devices for spying purposes has sort of made them persona non-grata here in America.

Of course you can still get one of these, just not as part of your provider’s contract program, which would make the $799 price tag a bit easier to deal with. It is however an excellent device and considering what Apple and Google and Samsung are charging for their phones it is a bit of a bargain.

So as usual make sure to check out Andrew’s channel on YouTube and subscribe if this kind of info is what you like to keep up on.

Now let us get right to that video.

Below you will find a review on the Huawei Mate 10, the slightly less expensive, but pretty darned great phone. This is from Linus over at TechLineHD so make sure to check out his channel!

That is all for now,

Tim
