Huawei MediaPad T3 and M3 Lite Android Tablets Get $15, up to $30 Price Cuts on Amazon and Newegg

By Radu Iorga

About a month ago Huawei launched a set of MediaPad tablets, that are already getting price cuts. Those models are the MediaPad T3 and MediaPad M3 Lite, in 10 and 8 inch model versions. The price cuts start at $15 and go as high as $30 on Amazon and Newegg.

First up in line is the MediaPad T3, available in 10 inch and 8 inch versions, priced at $159 or $139 respectively. Right now they’re at $139 and $119 on Newegg. Amazon offers the 8 inch version on sale, a bit higher at $124, but still a reasonable price. Both slates feature Snapdragon 425 processors, 16 GB of storage, 2 GB of RAM and a 4800 mAh battery.

The screen resolution is 1280 x 800 pixels and that should be enough for the 8 incher, while on 10 inches you may want more. The MediaPad M3 Lite is also part of the price cut, with a higher end setup than the T3 models. Its 10 inch and 8 inch models are sold for $249 and $199 respectively. They get to $224 and $174 on Amazon right now.

The slates come with a faster Snapdragon 430 processor, 16 GB of storage, 3 GB of RAM and a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. The 8 inch model has a 4800 mAh battery, while the 10 inch one brings a 6600 mAh battery. All of the devices mentioned above run on Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top. We made things easier for you, listing the links where you can buy the products:

The Huawei Nexus Tablet That Was Rumored to Have Andromeda OS on Board Has Been Canned; Details Revealed

By Radu Iorga

Late last year there were quite a few rumors swirling around, related to the fact that Google was prepping a device with the brand new Andromeda OS on board. Huawei was supposedly manufacturing the tablet under the Nexus brand. Well the project existed, but today we learn it got canned.

The device got to prototype phase and rumors spread all over the web about it. Andromeda itself was shelved for now, but it may resurface at some point in time, as such projects usually do. Sources close to the project claim that the Huawei Nexus slate was meant to be the inaugural Andromeda device. Google was working on a tablet/laptop hybrid known under the codename Bison.

Pieces of Andromeda were taken and implemented in Android Oreo in the meantime, so there was no reason to manufacture the machine. If Huawei’s device did come to life, it would have had 4 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, a pretty fast CPU and 128 GB of storage. No clue about the CPU maker, but Qualcomm and NVIDIA were in the cards.

Even the design traits leaked out: a rectangular slate, but one that wasn’t exactly top notch in manufacturing quality or materials, rather generic and typical of the whole Nexus tablet series. It was black and had a plasticky rubberized back it seems. The size was close to the one of the Nexus 7 and it felt a lot like a hybrid of the Nexus 7 and Nexus 9 apparently, but somehow cheaper in quality.

It’s no wonder the project got canned… In the meantime Google is said to keep on working on a fresh Chromebook Pixel, with a dedicated Assistant button and fingerprint scanner.

Huawei Brings 4 New Android Tablets to USA, Priced Up From $139: New MediaPad T3 and M3 Lite Models

By Radu Iorga

I know it’s a bit of a stretch to call these tablets “new”, but considering they’re just debuting in USA, I guess that works. Huawei’s latest T3 and M3 Lite models have been launched for months now in other countries and now they’re arriving in Donald Trump’s country.

These are all Android models, on the affordable side of things, with prices starting at $139 and maxing out at $249. The cheapest of the bunch is the Huawei MediaPad T3 8 inch slate, with an 8 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display and a Snapdragon 425 CPU. It also has 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 4800 mAh battery. There’s dual band WiFi in the mix here, a 5 megapixel back camera, plus a 2 MP front shooter. It runs Android Nougat.

Then comes the Huawei MediaPad T3 10 inch, at $159 and sporting a 9.6 inch 1280 x 800 pixel display. It’s got a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, plus a microSD card slot. Oddly enough it keeps the same 4800 mAh battery. The camera setup is also similar and Nougat is till the OS.

We move on to the M3 Lite series, with an 8 inch model at $199 and an 10 inch one at $249. These ones have Full HD resolution, they share the 3 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, microSD card slot and octa core processor. There’s WiFi ac and Bluetooth 4.1, plus 8 MP back cameras and 8 MP front shooter on both. A plus is the set of Harman Kardon stereo speakers and fingerprint scanner.

Nougat is here yet again.

Another Video Worth Sharing: The Huawei Matebook E, Unboxing and Initial Impressions

Tablets

By Tim

The Huawei Matebook E is a premium, 2 in 1, 12 inch, Tablet/notebook that has some excellent specs and offers a few variants.

There is a Core M3 version with 4GB ram,128 GB SSD and there is also a higher end Core i5 version with twice the ram and storage space.

The specs are good, the display is excellent and of course the price is a bit steep. But you are getting some goodies with it such as the keyboard and case being included along with a fingerprint sensor  and a very nice build quality.

So let us get to that video, which comes to us from Andrew over at AMDTechReviews

This product is available on Amazon starting at about $799.

That is all for now,

Tim

Fresh Huawei Honor Tablet with 7 Inch Screen Gets Certified by TENAA; Also Features 4000 mAh battery

By Radu Iorga

There’s a new Huawei Honor tablet in town and we know that because it has just been certified by TENAA. This is by no means the first Honor slate launch this year, since we saw the Play Pad 2 tablet getting two versions earlier in the year, together with the Honor 6A smartphone.

Back then the device s came with 8 inch and 9.6 inch screen sizes and now they’re completed by a 7 incher. The newcomer appeared on TENAA’s site this week and it goes by the model number BG2-U01. The specs are rather basic, from what we know and the device comes in gold and gray. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with a custom EMUI on top. The 7 incher provides a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and relies on a mystery quad core CPU, clocked at 1.3 GHz.

It’s either a MediaTek, or a HiSilicon Kirin I bet. Then there’s 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, a microSD card slot and a 2 MP front and back shooter sans LED. These are all entry level specs, but they don’t stop the tablet from also offering a SIM card slot. Finally, there’s a 4000 mAh battery inside and everything fits in a body that’s 8.6 mm thick and 275 grams heavy.

A microUSB 2.0 port is at the bottom. There’s little chance we’ll see a 4G version of the device, but the Honor Play Pad 2 did have such a version, so it may happen.
