Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: The Cubot X18 Plus Review

By Tim

This one comes to us from Linus over at TechLineHD and covers a pretty nice, very inexpensive 6 inch hi-res display phone that is currently going for a mere $149 on Gearbest!

The basics are as follows:

  • Display: 5.99 inch 2160 x 1080 pixels screen
  • CPU: MTK6750T 1.5GHz Octa Core
  • System: Android 8.0
  • Storage: 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM
  • Cameras: 13.0MP front camera and 2.0MP + 20.0MP dual rear cameras with AF and flash light
  • SIM Card: dual SIM dual standby, 1 Nano SIM card + 1 Nano SIM card and a TF card can be inserted at the same time
  • Battery 4000mAh
  • WIFI: 802.11b/g/n wireless internet

Nope, it isn’t bleeding edge, but it will get the job done! So go ahead and watch the video and see what you think!

I am unsure if this phone will be able to get LTE service in the USA, but it appears like it should. Should be fine in most countries depending on the bands you have in your region.

So let us get to that video and make sure to check out Linus’ YouTube channel.

This product is available on Gearbest currently for $149.

That is all I have for now,

Tim

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: Elephone U Pro Smartphone and Giveaway!

By Tim

Tonight’s video comes to us from Andrew and covers the Elephone U Pro with a 5.99 inch 2160 x 1080 pixels Corning Gorilla Glass Screen 5 display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 CPU.

This is a high end phone at a budget price! It does however have a few drawbacks but I’ll leave those to Andrew  from AMDTech who is the reviewer on this one. Make sure to check out his channel on YouTube and go to the video and enter the giveaway he is having for this phone!

This phone is not totally bleeding edge, but it is pretty darn close and has 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, so lot’s  of room for your pics and other files.

It also features Android 8.0 so it is relatively up to date and the battery is decent at 3550 mAh.

So let us proceed at once to the video and once again make sure to subscribe to Andrew’s channel, because he does great honest reviews.

This device is available right now at Gearbest, but the price is a bit steep, but remember they always have flash sales!

That is all I have for now, except for the usual, a small donation keeps this site running request.

Tonight’s Video Worth Sharing: Oukitel Mix 2 Review

By Tim

This one comes to us from Andrew over at AMDTech and covers the sub-$250 Oukitel Mix 2 smartphone which sports some decent specs and a very decent price point.

● MTK6757V ( Helio P25 ) Octa Core 2.3GHz
● 5.99 inch 2160 x 1080 FHD+ screen
● Android 7.0
● 64GB ROM memory plus 256GB TF card extended storage
● 8.0MP ( SW 13.0MP ) front camera and 16.0MP + 0.3MP ( SW 21.0MP + 2.0MP) rear cameras

Extra Features:
● Fingerprint Scanner / Incell Screen / 4080mAh Battery
● GPS
● Ambient Light Sensor / Gravity Sensor / Proximity Sensor / Gyroscope / Geomagnetic Sensor

So as you can see, this is a pretty darn decent phone and of course it is not a flagship, but for most of us this will get the job done. Besides I was getting very tired of hearing about the Galaxy S9 phone. Did anyone think it wouldn’t be great?

So enough chatter from me, let us proceed forthwith to the video. Make sure to take the time to subscribe to Andrew’s channel when you are done viewing the video. He offers some of the best content on YouTube concerning tech items.

This product is currently available for $229 on Gearbest.

That is all I have for now,

Tim

Samsung makes disabling Bixby button easier; still won’t let you remap it

By Jeff Dunn

While Samsung’s latest crop of high-end smartphones has impressed from a design standpoint, many Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, and Galaxy Note 8 buyers have complained about the tech giant’s decision to plant a dedicated button for its much-maligned Bixby voice assistant on both devices.

Now, though, the company appears to be backing down—at least a little bit.

As spotted by Samsung blog SamMobile, the tech giant is rolling out a software update to at least some Galaxy devices that lets users disable the so-called Bixby Key from opening the assistant’s “Bixby Home” screen—which acts as a sort of Samsung-made information hub similar to Google’s Google Now page—upon being pressed.

Samsung Ready to Release Flexible Galaxy Note in 2018, Still Working On It

By Radu Iorga

The prospect of a flexible phablet has been in the cards for Samsung for a while now, as they showcased some prototypes over the past years. One of the most convincing ones came in 2014 and it can be seen in the vide below. Now it seems that 2018 will finally bring us a viable commercial product.

Samsung is aiming at debuting a foldable Galaxy Note in 2018, according to the Associated Press. The device would come with a foldable screen and it should belong to the Galaxy Note line. Samsung’s president of mobile business, DJ Koh recently told reporters during a news conference that there are still hurdles to overcome to make the product viable and the release would be pushed back if they’re not surpassed.

Samsung is already bending those flexible OLED panels to make them curved around the edges of modern smartphones. Now they must make them bend harder, in the middle even and maybe launch some sort of phone/tablet hybrid, like Lenovo have been showcasing. Debuting a flexible phablet also means that we should see a foldable battery and other flexible components.

A dual display machine with a seam between the two bits of screen is likely. Samsung has been working on this as far as 2012, when they came up with a prototype called Youm, which was way ahead of its time. Hopefully they’ll get it right.
