Without further blabbering from me let us get right to the video.

That is all for now,

Xiaomi Expected to Launch Snapdragon 835-Based Laptop With Windows 10 Next Year

By Radu Iorga

After the debut of Windows 10 on ARM a few weeks ago, we expected more and more partners to adhere to this initiative. ASUS and HP kicked things off, with Lenovo also promising to join the party. Acer should also be there soon and now Xiaomi is said to have its own Snapdragon 835 powered laptop ready for prime time.

This laptop is slated for a 2018 debut, with Windows 10 in tow. Xiaomi and Qualcomm have been getting cozy lately, as Xiaomi also announced that it will be one of the early adopters of the Snapdragon 845 processor next year. The Chinese device maker is still a new name on the laptop market, entering it last year with the Mi Notebook Air. Then we saw the Mi Notebook Air with 4G SIM card slot and 2018 may bring a laptop of the sort with a Snadpragon 835 CPU inside.

The current gen Xiaomi laptops are based on Intel CPUs and Xiaomi’s key selling point for its laptops is the battery life. As you know, Snapdragon 835 laptops have amazing battery life, around 20 hours or more, so Xiaomi may also want a piece of that. Gigabite LTE connections is another advantage. Xiaomi is also rumored to bring its laptops to India, since they were only available in China till now. With their recent debut in Spain and soon in France we could also see them expanding there the laptop offer.

Right now those looking for a Win on ARM laptop can choose between the ASUS NovaGo and its 22 hours of functioning or the HP Envy x2 2 in 1 laptop with 6.9 mm waistline. They’ll be sold in early 2018. Expect a lower price from Xiaomi compared to those offered by HP and ASUS. I also expect Samsung to get in on the action.

Apple Wins Trademark Lawsuit Against Xiaomi in the EU

By Radu Iorga

Sour Apple

Apple isn’t only battling Qualcomm in the courtroom these days, but also Xiaomi. The Cupertino firm recently won an EU trademark case against the maker of MIUI. Let’s find out why.

It seems that Apple was against Xiaomi registering the “Mi Pad” name as an EU trademark, as the name was considered too similar to the Apple “iPad”. The legal battle was fought in Europe and it was decided by the EU’s second highest court, the General Court.

It ruled that the Mi Pad shouldn’t be registered as a trademark, as consumers could confuse it with the iPad, especially since the designs of the products are also quite similar. Aside from that, the actual product name is very similar, with just the letter “m” separating the Mi Pad from an iPad.

Phonetically they also sound the same. Xiaomi filed an application back in 2014 with the EU Intellectual Property Office, in order to register Mi Pad as an EU trademark. Apple then made a complaint with the EUIPO in 2016, claiming that the Mi Pad name was a riff on the iPad trademark.

Of course Xiaomi can appeal the decision. We’re also not sure if they will continue the Mi Pad lineup, so they may not care that much. However with the recent expansion to Europe, particularly Spain, this may prove to be a bit of a headache.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Confirmed by Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun

By Radu Iorga

Tablets are becoming less and less an item of hype, as the phones are dominating the news these days. Squeezing its way into the airways, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 has just popped up online, after being confirmed by Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. Let’s see what it’s all about.

The device is the follow-up to the Mi Pad 3, that was launched in China in April this year. Interestingly, that device was recently removed from the Xiaomi website in China and it’s no longer up for sale. Rumors started talking about a follow-up, which is exactly what the Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun confirmed. He basically said that the next generation of slate is being developed.

There’s no telling if it will be called Mi Pad 4 or some other name, but it’s coming for sure. We also have zero info about whether or not the stocks of the Mi Pad 3 will be replenished, but they probably will be. The Mi Pad 3 was an affordable device, with a 7.9 inch “Retina” display and a metal unibody case. Inside we could find a hexa core MediaTek processor, clocked at 2.1 GHz.

There’s also 4 GB of RAM, 64 GB of storage and a 13 MP back shooter. If you can allow me this predictions, I have a feeling that Xiaomi will go all out and launch a bigger slate, maybe an iPad Pro rival of sorts. Rumors also talk about the Mi Pad 4 featuring 4G LTE, voice calling and a 2 in 1 tablet format.
