Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air (2019) is a New Laptop, Freshly Launched in China, Priced at $536

By Radu Iorga

Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air (2019) is a brand new laptop launched in China and it’s priced at just $536. It’s up for preorder and it weighs just 2.4 pounds. It’s got a 12.5 inch Full HD screen, slim bezels and a backlit keyboard. Let’s check it out.

The product measures about half an inch in thickness and comes with display bezels as slim as 5.71 mm. Inside we find an 8th gen Intel Core processor and there’s also Harman Kardon acoustics with DTS surround sound support. Xiaomi claims that the notebook also has fast charging, meaning it can reach a 50% juice up after a 35 minute charge session.

However we have no idea how big the battery is. By the way, $536 is the starting price tag, for the Intel Core m3-8100Y CPU version, with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Then there’s also a $596 model, with the same chip and RAM, but double the storage. Moving up the ladder, there’s a Core i5 version (8250U), with 4 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage. That one costs $640.

We sure wish there was an 8 GB RAM model, but we can live with these ones. Sadly, Xiaomi doesn’t quite sell its laptops in all the Western countries, or some of the Eastern ones too. However, there are quite a few third party stores that have the product. The device feels pretty sleek and has a generous touchpad. It seems to come in gray and a sort of beige/gold.

New Xiaomi Mi Notebook 2019 Leaked in GeekBench, With Intel Core i5 CPU

By Radu Iorga

Xiaomi is always expanding its product lineup and for the past years, they’ve become a trustworthy name, even in the laptop area. Now they seem to be prepping a brand new laptop, part of the Xiaomi Mi Notebook series. It has just leaked in GeekBench, so let’s check it out.

We don’t know much about the size or other specs, not even the diagonals. What we do know is that it’s going to rely on the current gen Intel Core i5-8265U processor, a 2018 quad core CPU, accompanied by 8 GB of RAM. The device runs Windows 10, which is no surprise and we expect the usual MacBook-style or Huawei MateBook-style design.

One thing that would be nice this time around would be an European keyboard. The scores in GeekBench look pretty solid, between the 4412 points of the single core sub test and the 12.414 of the multi core one. In 2018 Xiaomi launched a bunch of notebooks, including Core i3 cheaper versions. They even have gaming laptops out and also Core i7 alternatives.

They’re covering all bases, except for maybe business laptops. Expect metal cases, silver, rose gold and gold versions, perhaps even some more solid graphics cards as time passes.

Xiaomi Foldable Phone Rumored to Cost Half of the Galaxy Fold; Debut Expected in Q2 2019

By Radu Iorga

Samsung and Huawei already brought foldable phones into the mainstream, but their prices are very high. We’re talking about $2000 for the Galaxy Fold and $2600 for the Huawei Mate X. Xiaomi is now said to seriously undercut them by prepping a $1000 foldable phone.

A recent report by iGyaan mentions that Xiaomi’s foldable smartphone, dubbed Mi Fold or Mi Flex right now is going to be priced at $999 in USA or 999 euros in Europe. In India it should cost around $1087. The debut of the product is scheduled for sometime between April and June and it’ll first happen in China, followed by separate launches in other global markets.

The device will cost half of the Galaxy Fold because it uses OLED panels made by Visionox Technology, a company I must admit I haven’t heard of. We’ll see if the panels are half as good as the Galaxy Fold and Mate X ones. The source also mentions flagship specs for the device, including a Snapdragon 855 CPU, 10 GB of RAM and I also expect a dual or triple camera on board.

There was a video surfaced online for the device back in January, that revealed its dual folding nature. It’s not very clear if that format is still on the table, since it would make the device pretty pricey.

Xiaomi Launches Google Home Hub Rival Dubbed XiaoAI: Touchscreen Smart Speaker

By Radu Iorga

Xiaomi didn’t only launch the Mi 9 flagship phone today, but also a smart speaker. The device is the XiaoAI Touchscreen and it’s a smart speaker meant to rival the Google Home Hub. Let’s check it out.

Part big speaker, part tablet, the device is supposed to be the hub for all things AI and Internet of Things for Xiaomi. At the core of everything sits the XiaoAI smart assistant. Xiaomi actually launched a series of smart speakers, integrated with the assistant, but very few or none of them have reached the West. Now there’s a new model, that could make the jump.

The XiaoAI Touchscreen speaker is very similar to both the Google Home Hub and Lenovo Smart Display. The newcomer is actually quite different from the predecessor and it comes with a 4 inch display, that shows a custom digital clock. The screen can be used to select music, watch videos and install a variety of apps.

There’s an alarm clock in the mix, the Tencent Q music library and there’s also integration with smart home gadgets, like smart doorbells, cameras and more. There’s no pricing or availability, but there will be a beta test from February 28th. It’s likely we’ll learn more at MWC 2019.

I Was Looking To See What The Xiaomi Mi A3 Might Be Like And Ran Across The Mi A2 Still On Sale

By Tim

I was looking this evening for some info on the Xiaomi Mi A3 which I am sure is set to be released shortly but aside from some crap render video on YouTube I did not find much, so I decided to check out Gearbest and see if they had a pre-sale going.

There was nothing on Gearbest nor a few other sites I checked, however I did notice that last years Mi A2 was still on sale for a mere $209!

The sale is good for about 1 more day, depending on when you read this, but this is a great phone and I finally added it to my 2018 list of budget smartphones worth buying late last year.

This is a full HD phone (2160 x 1080p) and has a great camera. But don’t take my word for it, poke around the internet and search a bit.

Just don’t take too long, because the sale will be over shortly!

I did a video on this which you can view below…

That is all for now, except please subscribe to our channel or click those big donation buttons on the website here!
