I Was Looking To See What The Xiaomi Mi A3 Might Be Like And Ran Across The Mi A2 Still On Sale

By Tim

I was looking this evening for some info on the Xiaomi Mi A3 which I am sure is set to be released shortly but aside from some crap render video on YouTube I did not find much, so I decided to check out Gearbest and see if they had a pre-sale going.

There was nothing on Gearbest nor a few other sites I checked, however I did notice that last years Mi A2 was still on sale for a mere $209!

The sale is good for about 1 more day, depending on when you read this, but this is a great phone and I finally added it to my 2018 list of budget smartphones worth buying late last year.

This is a full HD phone (2160 x 1080p) and has a great camera. But don’t take my word for it, poke around the internet and search a bit.

Just don’t take too long, because the sale will be over shortly!

I did a video on this which you can view below…

Xiaomi Foldable Smartphone Gets Fresh 3D Renders, A Confirmation From Xiaomi

By Radu Iorga

Xiaomi’s foldable phone has been the talk of the town for the past few weeks, ever since it leaked in that hands on video. It showed a tryptich, a device that opens up to reveal 3 screens, with two that fold behind the main one. We already knew that Xiaomi was working on such a machine and now Letsgodigital scored some sketches and did some renders inspired by them.

Turns out that Xiaomi also confirmed part of the features and looks of the device. Xiaomi is still said to introduce its foldable in the second half of 2019, even though we were waiting for it to appear at MWC. Xiaomi did say it has a foldable phone in development. Lin Bin, cofounder and CEO over at Xiaomi published the video of the prototype that fascinated the masses.

The official reports that the manufacturer has overcome technical problems, like the flexible screen. The foldable mechanism and MIUI have been adjusted to the system. The symmetric double folded deign combines the experience of a tablet with the one of a mobile phone. Two names are being thrown around right now: Xiaomi Dual Flex and Xiaomi MIX Flex.

The bezels are very slim and you can fold the two sides of the screen and then close it seamlessly in the middle, folding the two parts at the back. The On/Off button has been moved at the top, while the bottom holds the USB Type-C port. Xiaomi changed MIUI and left a large space between icons, as shown in the video. At least one of the cameras is placed below the screen panel.

Be sure to check out the source link Letsgodigital, for an exclusive statement from Xiaomi, regarding its foldable device and its flexible screen that’s being developed with a partner. Xiaomi is only set to bring a 5G phone to MWC 2019 by the way.

Another Great Video Worth Sharing: Redmi Note 7: The Review

By Tim

This one is from AMDTech and covers a budget smartphone on my recent list of 5 best smartphones for 2019 (so far).

For now we are going to concentrate on Andrew’s video.

The Redmi Note 7 from Xiaomi is an excellent budget phone with a few minor flaws but still worth considering!

He is reviewing the Chinese unit so while it gets 4G, it does not support LTE, but that should be fixed in the global edition.

I would go over all the specs, but Andrew does such a great job that this would be redundant. Suffice to say that this device is a great budget phone!

So make sure to check out AMDTech on YouTube, and if you enjoy this kinf od video, then subscribe!

Below you will find the aforementioned video…

Xiaomi Shares Double Folding Phone Demo on Video

By Radu Iorga

Xiaomi once again teased the dual folding phone, that was also demoed a while ago, with a triple screen setup. The previous vid felt a bit fake, but this one looks like a real demo. Xiaomi president and cofounder Bin Lin showed us what the device is like in 10 seconds of Twitter video.

Once again we have a triple screen contraption, albeit a bit smaller than expected. The sides of the screen from the tablet mode will fold to the back of the device, like a paper plane of sorts. The whole motion is very intuitive and fluid. When used in phone mode, the device looks rather small, perhaps a 5 incher or even smaller.

The sides are curved in this use mode. When folded, the device feels a bit chunky. An interesting aspect is that we can’t 100% see the folding action, since the video cuts out from the moment of the folding straight to the back side. A spokesman from Xiaomi hints that Xiaomi is still thinking about whether or not to bring this to the market.

He also asked name suggestions, while also saying that Xiaomi is considering two versions: Xiaomi Dual Flex and Xiaomi MIX Flex. The device is expected to be symmetrical and it should combine the experience of a tablet and mobile phone: both practical and beautiful. The prototype build had a lot of challenges, including “four wheel drive folding shaft technology”.

Expect a demo at MWC 2019 for sure. Two folds sound OK, unless there’s damage over time.

Today’s First Video Worth Sharing: Xiaomi Redmi Note 7, First Bleeding Edge Budget Device Of 2019?

By Tim

As promised a few days back, I am already researching 2019 budget phones. The Redmi Note 7 from Xiaomi looks to be the second one I am going to be watching.

With a 6.3 inch, teardrop notch and at a price that is comparable to the Nuu G4, this looks to be a great smartphone!

Add in the Snapdragon 660 Qualcomm processor and a 48 Megapixel rear camera and we are talking serious budget phone for camera oriented folks!
